Welcome to St. Andrew's United Church in the heart of Brantford, opposite the historic and beautiful Victoria Park. After a disastrous fire in January of 2006, the congregation has rebuilt a worship space that is modern, dignified and inviting. The congregation is proud of the result of the planning and sacrifice that has resulted in this inspiring and efficient space for worship and programming. Our hope is that you will join us for worship in the near future.
St. Andrew's is committed to local downtown outreach as a part of its mission calling, including the hospitality and nourishment program called "Soup for the Soul." The congregation shares space in its buildings with Wilfred Laurier University and a local methadone clinic.
This autumn the St. Andrew's congregation welcomes the members of Wesley United church who will be worshiping with us while the Wesley congregation makes decisions about its future. While we worship together, it will be a privilege to share worship leadership with the Rev. Louise Rutledge, minister of Wesley.
It is a special delight for me to be serving in interim capacity at St. Andrew's, following the departure of the Rev. Allan Lynk to serve as a chaplain in the Canadian armed forces. My delight stems from the fact that one of the uniting congregations forming St. Andrew's was my home congregation. Years ago, the session of Zion Church recommended me for ordained ministry and sent me on my way to northern Alberta following ordination. The present St. Andrew's (including the very supportive members from the other uniting congregation, Brant Avenue) has been a continuing source of encouragement for me.
We invite you to come and see what is unfolding at St. Andrew's this autumn.
Rev. Dr. Peter Wyatt
